Jason Trachtenberg is the lead singer/co-conspirator of the famed Trachtenberg Family Slideshow players. He plays Casio and sings, while his thirteen-year-old daughter Rachel plays drums, and his wife Tina works the slide projector. You can also find him as the star in the festive off-Broadway show A Christmas Carol. Tonight, Jason performs poetry, comedy, and infotainment all within the confines of a rock n roll outfit.
Since their formation little over a year ago, the members of Brooklyn's Jigsaw Soul have been hard at work, orchestrating a live show that combines their unique brand of moody psych-rock with live video manipulation and modern dance. Miraculously, they also found time to write and record their first album and cultivate a community of like minded individuals including visual artists, dancers and filmmakers who have contributed to the making of two international award winning music videos and several inspired live performances.

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Teddy Thompson has organized a special Christmas show on December 19th at NYC’s Highline Ballroom with all proceeds to be donated to the charity http://savedarfur.org/content
The show will feature an amazing line-up of singer-songwriters, including performances by Teddy, Martha Wainwright, Rufus Wainwright, Kamila Thompson, Jenni Muldaur, Sonya Kitchell, Neal Casal, Tift Merritt , Christina Courtin plus some very special surprise guests. The backing band will feature renowned New York musicians Brad Albetta, Dan Reiser, David Mansfield, Jack Petruzelli and Jason Crigler and they will support each artist on the bill. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Samantha Power will also be on hand to give a short talk about foreign policy and Africa.
The Save Darfur Coalition's mission is to raise public awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur and to mobilize a unified response to the atrocities that threaten the lives of two million people in the Darfur region of Sudan.
Says Thompson, “The conflict in Darfur is a complicated one. Many different factors contribute to the grief and bloodshed that is ongoing in the region.
Religious differences, abundant oil, as well as military and government corruption have produced one of the worst human rights atrocities in memory. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and
children have been raped, tortured and murdered. Unimaginable terror. This concert is contribution to help the wonderful charity SaveDarfur in providing aid to the Darfuri people. All of the artists are
donating their time and talent and we hope that people will come to see this great show and, by doing so, help to end the suffering in Darfur.

Mary Frank is a dear friend and a truly wonderful artist. Her paintings and sculptures will be on display throughout this evening of very special events. In 1975, the critic Hilton Kramer praised Mary Frank as "a magnificent anomaly among contemporary sculptors." Today, she can be seen as one of the foremost figurative sculptors of her generation, the creator of a body of work that explores the most elemental human feelings -- love, loss, rage, despair, and the joy of being.
